Owner Michele Vollman’s family knows the impact food can have on connection. Coming from a long line of chefs, Michele’s dream was to open a space that honored her family’s love of food; to create a place where people could come together have intimate discussions and try new culinary creations and always be welcomed in a way that made them feel at home. From the moment the lights turned on and food was put on the table the bistro’s foundation has been friendship, connection, and wonderful meals.
While La Petite Pierre continues to honor its roots and origin, it also strives to support and connect with its surrounding communities. This year is no exception as they partner with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra for their seasonal Gala Opening. Coming from neighboring towns in Alsace, France; Michele’s father and CSO’s Music Director, Louis Langrèe, have inspired the people of Cincinnati through their own passions—food and music. As the fall season approaches, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is excited to celebrate both France and the people of Cincinnati during the Gala D’Ouverture with La Petite Pierre catering opening night.
From chefs and wine connoisseurs to local musicians, the season-opening fundraiser Gala will feature the city’s talent and its hunger for culture and connection. The city of Cincinnati prides itself on its ability to collaborate, share, and come together in the name of art and entertainment. The Gala isn’t only an opportunity to experience the grandiose of French culture. It is an opportunity to support the people who make the city of Cincinnati a place where diversity and creative expression can live and thrive. The event will truly teach each guest how to dine well with music, culture, and of course delicious food.
La Petite Pierre’s very own Chef Eric will infuse his signature cooking style of fresh and local with traditional French cuisine for a modern take on classics. The CSO Gala will prove as an opportunity to meet French culture the best way one can, through the food that represents a country’s people and their traditions. Chef Eric and La Petite Pierre are no strangers to good food or exciting flavors. In fact, while France remains the bistro’s founding flavor, it’s certainly not afraid of exploring new flavor profiles or taking a new approach to a traditional dish. Just as Chef Eric explores what it means to creatively honor tradition, so too does the Gala represent a unique opportunity to hear and taste the talent of Cincinnati while honoring France through French-inspired music and cuisine.
When food is paired with creativity, community, and flair the dining experience is bound to come alive. Guests will begin with appetizers and specially selected wines, then be seated for a three-course dinner. Dinner music will be provided live by The Faux Frenchmen, made up of the CSO’s very own violinist Paul Patterson, acoustic guitarists Brian Lovely and George Cunningham, and acoustic bassist Don Aren . Together, they dive into the deep roots of European Jazz, while forging their own Americanized take on gypsy jazz. Event- goers will enjoy French wine throughout the evening, chosen by local sommelier Kevin Hart, all while taking in the sounds, smells, and colors that surround them.
